Kate's boss was such a creep! Asking her if she's sleeping with Leopold? Then telling her, "you haven't even kissed me yet". Ick! I know it's silly because it's a movie, but I do wonder how Kate's character would have dealt with going back to 1876, being so independent and self-sufficient, yet having to deal with women being basically treated as second class citizens (i.e., no right to vote, not typically holding jobs). Then again, even in "present day" she seemed ok with Leopold coming to her rescue, with the purse snatching and arriving at the dinner to call her boss out on his creepiness. So perhaps she would do just fine.

I thi k about her adjustment to that way of life as well. I coukdn't taje going from having conveniences to not only having none, but also being treated like a second-class citizen. I assume Kare woukd still remember her life in 2001 America even though she is going back in time. But, they don't tell us. If she did, she could "invent" A TON of the concepts and products she used in the future. And, Leopold could help her build the prototypes. But again, that would REALLY be messing with the "order" of things. Therefore, I don't know if Kate goes back in time with no knoeledge of the life from which she came, or full knowledge. The former would in many ways allow her to more easily handle the rougher life, since she wouldn't have anything to miss.

Since Leopold remembered everything from his life when he went into the future, I think Kate remembered everything from 2001 when she went into the past. I like the idea of her providing ideas for inventions, though. That would definitely solve the money problem his family was having!

She obviously didn't think twice about never seeing her brother Charlie again, or he her. They might as well have died.

Women weren't second class citizens they were closer to cattle in those days. Even at the highest levels they were really just used to seal compacts between families - here we should bring out families closer together go take my daughter as broodmare to seal the deal.
