Too much like 39 Steps

i think this movie is MUCH to similar to 39 Steps. the whole accused man trying to prove his innocence, meeting the blonde who wants to turn him in and then falling in love with him. it might as well have been a sequel like grease 2. also, the part where robert cummings puts his hand over the girl's mouth to keep them hidden is just further proof this movie is like 39 Steps. what do you think???

LOADS of hitchcocks films follow these themes, but what differentiates them if the different connotations of each crime and the different scenarios they find themslves in.

The improvised speech in front of an unknown audience is another reused plotdevice.

NORTH BY NORTHWEST is the best of the 39er clones. Instead of the "Statue of Liberty" you get "Mount Rushmore". The formula needs color to be really enjoyable.

"Too much like 39 Steps"

Which is precisely why it's brilliant.

As well as repeating lots of things from 'The 39 Steps,' I think there is a reprise of a tune from Hitchcock's 'The Lady Vanishes.' I feel certain that the hitchhiking Robert Cumming's whistling of a tune in the truck is the same as Miss Froy's coded tune from 'Lady.'

Hitch copied it on purpose.
Saboteur was one of Hitch's first American spy films.
