Stanley and Roy?
Why the masculine names?
shareDon't know why Stanley, but Roy might be short for Fitzroy, which was the mother's maiden name.
shareProbably the author was interested in the meanings of their names:
Roy from Fitzroy = son of a king, i.e. noble and great
Stanley = stone wood, lack of warmth and feeling?
That's very interesting. I was trying to think who was popular back then but all I came up with was Roy Rogers and Stanley Livingstone.
shareMaybe the book explains this?
