Flaw in animation

tiny thing that bothered me as a kid - when the animals are all on the island near the end when the fire's burning the forest, there's a shot a a raccoon/possom-like animal licking its' baby. But then all of a sudden the baby disappears. I know, who cares, but as a child it scared me. I thought it symbolised that it died or something ;_;

Yes, this was a real movie-error. During the transfer of all the cels and backgrounds to film, someone simply forgot to lay the next baby-racoon-cel on the background.
There are some other minor errors of the same type in the movie (Bambis disappearing spots for one second, a disappearing crow), but the raccoon-baby was the most obvious. It was digitally corrected on the DVD-version. Other minor errors was left untouched, but this flaw was too obvious so the restauration-team corrected it.

"What happened mother? Why did we all run?"
"Man... was in the forest."

I never noticed. I need to see the movie again.

When we were little, me and my sister used to rewind the tape over and over again to watch the baby disappear. We would laugh and say "oh no! She ate her baby!" (We were weird) They shouldn't have fixed it.

I just saw that movie for the first time today (I know I'm really late) and I noticed that and had to rewind it to watch it again. I don't think that they should have fixed it on the DVD. That's like a classic mistake, and to me, seems like a small part of Disney history.

I just watched the movie on YouTube- and the baby doesn't disappear, it stays right in tact.

As pointed out before, they corrected it in the DVD. I own a VHS copy from the early '90s and can attest to the error happening.

Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.

Bambi's mother has brown eyes. Faline has blue eyes. However, in the scene where Bambi leaves Faline to investigate the smoke, Faline suddenly wakes up, wide eyed. For this one shot, she has brown eyes.

Hahahah I thought I was the only one who noticed the disappearing baby! I, too, thought the mother ate it when I was little. Luckily I have both the VHS and the DVD. Why would anyone "fix" that scene for the DVD?
