goof
Just before the British sergeant played by GP Huntley is run through with a lance, the shadow of the lance protruding from his body is seen the ground. It took me years to realize this was a flub.

Thanks for correcting me on that point. It took me years to figure out what was bothering me about Butler's death. Still an interesting contrast with his role in BEAU GESTE.
Here's a new one in RIO BRAVO. After the shootout in the street, Wayne runs over to get his horse which is thoughtfully being held for him by a crew member. I guess that saves Wayne the trouble of having to run around looking for another horse. He had a similar problem in THE ALAMO when the Mexican soldier who was supposed to run him through knocked himself out
Speaking of which in the restored edition Wayne still has enough energy left after being run through for one more shot which was not in the theatrical cut.
See you at the movies.
There are more "goofs" in this film then there are accurate facts. It's a complete fiction from start to finish; nothing but Hollywood invention.
shareWhich is worse: "Boots" or SANTA FE TRAIL? The only Custer film I've seen that seemed to tell the truth was SON OF THE MORNING STAR which would've been extremely violent for tv. I think it's the only time I've seen his brothers and nephew shown in a movie.
I also picked up the complete soundtrack album several years ago. The scene for when he breaks his watch still gives me chills because of Steiner's music.
Another: California Joe is shot in the back with two arrows. But in the next shot, when Flynn is holding him, the is only one arrow!
