Title

Now, I know their were many titles in the running for this film but does anyone know what the main one was, the one they almost took.

Suspicion (1941) is the main title.

Wow really!

I heard it was going to be called Johnnie but I'm not sure whether thats true.

Johnnie was considered for the main title. But RKO's final decision under RKO Studio Head George Schaefer was to call the film "Suspicion".

Yea, Hitch originally wanted to call it "Johnny", after the main character (some say it was also after prized dog). RKO polled a few titles, and found that Suspicion was the most lucrative, so to Hitchcock's dismay, they chose it.

Samson Raphaelson considers Suspicion "in many ways my best screenplay." But he wrote brilliant films like Trouble in Paradise, Broken Lullaby, Smiling Lieutenant, and The Shop around the Corner.
