Hitchcock's Suspicion is far from being a film-noir. It is lacking most of the elements typical for the gerne. social and geographical setting, main characters and the visual style differ completely. does anybody have an idea?
The GOOD thing about IMDB is that everyone can contribute to the information on here. The BAD thing about IMDB is that everyone can contribute to the information on here.
Unfortunately "Film Noir" sounds so hip and cool that anyone ignorant of the origins of the term wants to apply it to any vaguely dark film which they like.
The internet has led me to the conclusion that genres don't really matter much at all. Music genres, film genres, whatever the art form may be. Mainly because over time, among the masses, popular terms start to over take any real common sense of what the term even refers to (A respect for the history/origin of the term/art form, etc). To me now, there are basically feature films, short films, and documentaries. Everything else is lost. And music is basically just music. Why do we really need to over catagorize art anyhow? Really the only thing genres are good for is if you are searching for something that provokes certain thoughts, feelings and moods, etc. All these things and our taste in art itself is varied and relative anyhow.
My body's a cage, it's been used and abused...and I...LIKE IT!!
