Why is this movie not in top 250s?
Hi,
I liked this movie a lot. I think this movie must be in top 250s around the rank between 150 and 200.
What is your opinion, everyone?

I watched North by Northwest last week and gave it a 10. It may have surpassed Rear Window as my favorite Hitchcock movie. I had heard Suspicion was supposed to be one of his better early efforts and was looking forward to watching it. It was enjoyable right up to the end, but the ending was ridiculous. I was ready to give it an 8 or 9 but it gets only a 7 for being 7-10ths of what it could have been.

Hi,
That is because the plot of the movie is complicated.
Hitchcock originally wanted Cary Grant to be guilty. And Cary Grant was excited to play a villain role. But Audience didn't liked it. So Hitchcock and R.K.O were forced to change some of the major parts of the story to make Cary Grant not guilty.
For Example, Hitchcock put his dog "Johnnie" in the movie to show the innocence of Cary Grant. And we know that Cary Grant (Johnnie) didn't married Joan Fontaine (Lina) for money in the very beginning. We see that Johnnie was financially broken all of his life. Beaky was a friend of Johnnie since his childhood. Hitchcock cleverly added Johnnie's inquiry for a loan on insurance to make Johnnie not guilty.
But I did liked the movie especially with current ending, because the movie later highly influenced movies like Rear Window, North by Northwest, Psycho, and Vertigo in many ways.
I think the top 250 system would be better if there were a minimum vote count in order to be included. ( much the way there is a minimum at bats for a batting title ) Too many movies on there with less than 10000 votes even. Yes, I know its based on percentage, but its much easier to get a high percentage when the vote count is less than 1/10 of other movies. Not trying to be critical, just my own opinion.
I love this movie, by the way. One of my favorites.
All you have to do is take a look at some of the schlock movies in any list of "top" films. That should answer your question.
