Voodoo in film.

I'm doing a presentation for a class I'm taking (biology in film) on voodoo/zombies in film and someone recommended I use this film as an example. So I have the following questions (and don't worry about spoilers, if I end up using this film I'll watch it soon):

1. Are there drugs in the film, hallucinogens?

2. Is there any mention of poison from pufferfish?

These might seem like silly questions but I have an essay to write about zombies in voodoo and one of the theories about the zombies is that they were made through pufferfish poisoning combined with hallucinogens.

Anyways... Thanks in advance.

No, this movie was far too early for that information to be "commen knowledge" enough to be used in a movie.

You've probably checked into them already, but the earlier "White Zombie" contained a zombifying poison. The later "Serpent and the Rainbow" was more detailed about the ingredients and biological effects of the zombifying drug.

Yes, the specifc type of puffer-fish.... Growing up in S. Florida, I got quite the education on all those matters...
