Song Deanna Durbin sings?

Anyone know the title of the song Deanna Durbin sings while she is accompanying herself at the piano? It is earlier in the film, an up-tempo song, either in Spanish or French. I have several Durbin recordings, but this one is not on any of them. Thanks for any info!

The song is "Clavelitos" by Joaquin Valvrede and is sung in Spanish by Deanna. I don't think it's available on any of the commercial Durbin discs that have been released to date, though a version is available on a 2 Disc set of recordings by soprano Victoria de Los Angeles, who was one of Deanna's favorite singers.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the info!

You're welcome, Chuck. I hope eventually that they do release Deanna's marvelous performance of this zesty little Spanish song on CD. It's terrific...and so's her piano playing!

PS Shame on Robert Cummings for not letting her "audition" it for him earlier in the film! lol!

It amazes me how anyone can simultaneously play the piano and sing such difficult passages. Are we sure she did the playing?

I don't know. The piano playing may have been prerecorded,as the vocals were, but if Deanna did "mime" the piano playing to her vocal, she sure did a masterful job of it!

I notice in many musical films when a "star" sits down to "play" a piano and sing, the camera seldom shows the stars hands actually hitting the keys. For example, Judy Garland, playing and singing the title song in FOR ME AND MY GAL.

But this definitely wasn't the case with Deanna, and I've noticed that when she plays the piano in her other films they almost always show her hands actually hitting the keys.

So, I'm guessing that Deanna knew how to play the piano well, even if she did mime her playing to a prerecorded track when a scene was filmed.

And who knows? If the music was prerecorded, maybe she was the one who did the prerecording?

The song reminds me me of a tune from Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella.
