Richard Murdoch

I was watching this and did not have imdb handy. I was looking at Richard Murdoch and I knew he looked and sounded familiar.

About 45 minutes, it came to me. "Uncle Tom" the potty old member of
chambers from Rumpole and the Bailey!

Obviously, imdb confirmed it, but it was odd seeing him as a young man
and the "hero" of the movie.

Fun plot and any movie with Linden Avery in it is worth watching!

When this movie was made Askey and Murdoch had been a massive radio hit as the pair living in a flat atop Broadcasting House in the show "Bandwaggon". This inspired a film, too, which is worth seeing.
Also, the characters played by Murdoch and Askey were combined as one man using a "silly ass" persona as a disguise in Arnold Ridley's original play....

Even more also, you will know Arnold Ridley, also...he was Pte. Godfrey in TV's "Dad's Army".

Small world, no?
