What knd of surgery did the mother have?

Anyone know how she died?

They don't specify, but it might have been some kind of gynecological surgery (ovarian/uteran cancer) or possibly her heart, but due to the time period (early 1900s), I doubt it was a heart operation. I think they may have tried a hysterectomy and she may have bled to death. This is all a guess, of course. But her symptoms (pain, exhaustion, young age, 50/50 chance of survival, and sudden death) point towards that. After all, ovarian cancer is not called the "silent killer" for nothing. By the time the symptoms are that obvious, it's too late to save the person.

I wish they had been more specific. Back then, it could have been anything.
