Cross-Eyed Painting
Having just watched both movies, I can honestly that the painting of the cross-eyed ancestor in "Remember the Night" also plays an integral role in another film featuring Stanwyck, "Ball of Fire."

funny. was also good to see them making popcorn the old fashioned way... shaking a basket over a real fire. Sterling Holloway (Winnie the Pooh!) was 35 but looks about 20.
shareI thought the cross-eye painting was also used in the other Sturges film, Sullivan's Travels.

hmm I worship this film. So terrific. esp that classic scene of guys watching
the b/w cartoon with such glee.
But the cross-eye painting? Have to record this one and look for that.
Funny how it is mentioned as an error about 3rd Ave & W 54. Used to haunt
Lex/3rd & E 54 during 80s & 90s. Less so now. I guess back in 40s it was
thought the audiences in sticks wouldn't notice or even know the dif as
they would today. Even with most town parts filmed in Canada or Queens there
is still an effort to try and get it right.
As an aside less film permits issued in NYC lately. Economy.
Thanks again for the pointer.
a great painting!
Season's Greetings!
Definitely the same painting in both films, which is strange because they were both made for different studios.
