On TCM July 16, 2009 at 7:30am

And on July 24th at 6:15pm.
Unless they cancel it for a tribute to the films of Michael Jackson..

I know, I have it set to record. :)

Did the recording end before the movie as it did on my machine?

reply

No, actually, on mine, it recorded about half an hour too much!

It's on TCM again on July 24th @6:15 pm. It started after the credits here and ended at the jail cell scene following the trial. We get another chance. My info comes from the IMDB page TV Schedule for the film.

Awesome!

So who is your favorite character?

-The Cheshire Cat

reply

That's a tough question! I think the film is perfectly cast and performed. I'll say I like best the direction done by Leisen.

reply

I named my pug Willie Simms.

Oddly enough. But my favorite was Mrs. Sargeant.

Classic. I loved how every time Willie said something she didn't like, she'd jus punch him. I imitate her when I get Willie in trouble. "Willie." Ha ha!!

She gets off on being witholding. Look at her, getting off.

I always like to find a nod toward the extended family living arrangements so common in the middle of the last century.

Yes. :)

Thanks for posting that! It cut off the end of mine too, which was extremely annoying, cause I was really invested in it! Can't wait to see the end.

reply

My recording was cut off before the ending also. The problem is that the guide said 90 minutes, but the movie is 94 minutes long. This has happened to me too often, so now I program the recorder so it records an extra 10 or 15 minutes for any movie that doesn't end on the half-hour or hour. Usually it cuts off just before the guy kisses the girl, the cowboy kisses his horse, or the good guy blasts the bad guy, so the missing minute or two doesn't really matter, but this time it mattered.

reply

Or the less popular, the bad guy kisses the good guy scenario.

I realize months have passed since this topic posted, but I saw the movie was on again today on TCM. I've always wanted to catch this one but never have yet. So I turn the TV to TCM -- and there's no signal from them. Rats! Anybody know when the next showing might be?

reply

It is now available on DVD. You can get it a TCM's website.

reply

Thanks. Will look for it there.

TCM usually shows it around Christmas. It aired recently again (12/17/13) on TCM with a beginning and concluding commentary by Robert Osborne. My TiVo recorded the whole thing without cutting anything off.
