What is Willie's relationship?

So does anybody know what Willie's relationship is to Jack's family? I thought he might be Jack's brother, but now I don't.

I wondered the same thing. He's definitely not Jack's brother. He appears to be an employee; there's no indication that he lives in the house with the family, but he's an active part of their holiday festivities.

If I recall correctly, in the scene where the family is running around getting ready for Fred MacMurray's arrival, the mother makes a statement that implies Willie exchanges work for room and board. I will have to watch it again to see if I am correct.

Not a relative--more of a cross between a hired hand and a friend.

He's a halfwit they let live there. He does chores for them in exchange. It's charity.
