The Letter w/ Bette Davis

I loved this movie, as I do most of Bette Davis movies! In several scenes she was knitting (or was it crocheting?). She did it like a pro to me!! In another movie, she was doing the same thing. And doing it like a pro too. I was wondering if anyone knows that she really was able to do that in real life.
Just wondering, Kathy D.

Actually, since she was making lace, I think technically, she was not knitting or crocheting but "tatting."

It was crochet, with a small hook (needle) between 1 and 2 mm.
You can tell when she sets down after dinner. The thread is crochet cotton.
Tatting involves either a sewing needle or a tatting shuttle (oval with pointed ends) and as far as I know knitting is not used to make lace.

She did do a good job.

What a great performance. Just effortless. Have you seen the transfer on the new DVD? Flawless. Does anyone know what was Bette's reaction to the finished film? The sewing is a great touch.
