Did anyone else find the opening scene erotic?

Is it just me being a sicko, or did anyone else find the way Bette Davis just empties every last bullet into her lover erotic? Man, she just pursues him like he was an annoying bug.

I just really go wild when I hear the "click" of the empty chamber. Like she would have riddled him with 100 bullets if she could.

Wow, don't *beep* with that bitch!

You sure have a strange idea of what is erotic!

Yeah. To each his own!

I would say there is metaphoric eroticism in the scene. With out getting explicit or violating terms and conditions, one can view the weapon -the gun - as a male sexual symbol. Traditionally, it is the male who "blanks" the woman. Leslie's been getting it from this guy for some time. However, this scene follows Leslie having just absorbed her lover telling her that he has dumped her for a "local" woman, possibly a prostitute. Leslie now feels she's been "blanked-over" (used, exploited). She "turns the tables" on him; she grabs the gun and "blanks" him - firing shot after shot into his now submissive body, letting him have it until she, and her weapon, are spent. I almost expected her to say, "There. How do YOU like getting "blanked!"" Agree?

No!

I don't know about erotic but while THE LETTER is not my favorite Bette Davis movie, this is my all time favorite Bette Davis scene.
