Night on Bald Mountain/Ava Maria

Watched this movie yesterday...beautiful as always!

I have two questions on this part of the movie.

1. Deems Taylor, prior to the start of this part, states Satan's followers come to worship him/please him. So all of those "ghosts" are from already dead people in that village? They rise from graves with Christian crosses. It seems to me that this village is primarily devil-worshippers. Anyone have thoughts or analysis on this?

2. Does anyone know the specific moment/sound where the song changes from Night on Bald Mountain to Ava Maria?

Thanks!!

Ave Maria starts when the worshippers are crossing the bridge.

the choir parts before that and after the bells chime are still "Night", although in the original score there is no choir.
