So they're finally putting Destino out for home release, but from the information I can gather it looks like its only on the Blu-Ray. Is this true? I really hope not because that's just not fair. Does anyone know?
And if the audio is just the one from the earlier release, and Sunflower is still cut, is there any reason to buy this on DVD if I already have it? Right now it was looking like Destino might almost justify it, but if they're cutting that from the DVD, should I even bother?
What happened to the rumored "Fantasia World" disc? Stupid Disney.
The Musicana documentary looks interesting, but I don't know if it's worth me buying these again.
Hollywood itself is a Politically Correct Hack Job. Boycotting a DVD because they took out something considered Racist will do no good. There are a lot of Disney Films that have been edited on DVD for various reasons. "Saludos Amigos!" was edited to take out Goofy's Cigarette Smoking. "Make Mine Music" has the entire segment "The Martins and the Coys" taken out because it's got a lot of Gunfire and Shooting and is considered too violent.
And it's not just Disney, it's other studios too. Warner Brothers put some disclaimers on their Looney Tunes DVD's in regards to Racism, but even they aren't Brave enough to re-release cartoons like "Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips", "Bushy Hare" or "Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs".
Boycotting does nothing and it won't send any message to the Hollywood Bigwigs. I don't agree with Censorship, but there's always going to be some Liberal Nut-Job who thinks they know what's best for the country at large and will control what you see. They won't change their mind because a handful of people won't buy their product.
As for the most recent Fantasia / Fantasia 2000 DVD, I would suggest getting it if you don't already have Fantasia in your Video Library. It's a Classic film and the Politically Correct Edit does nothing to detract from it. The Remastering is otherwise Masterfully done with incredible Color, Clarity and Sound.
All I want to know is how the new DVD compares with old one picture and sound wise. I already have the Fantasia Anthology 3 disc set. The special features on the Anthology set are great and I'm really disappointed they weren't carried over. The lack of special features is why I'm hesitant about buying the new release. A little help, please?
If anyone cares, I recently made the leap to Blu-ray and one of the first things I bought was the Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 combo pack, which has both movies on Blu-ray and DVD. And holy crap, do they look and sound GREAT! It still sucks that they didn't carryover any of the old special features, so I'm still going to hold on to my old DVD set, too. But the Blu-rays and new DVDs are indeed worth it. Highly recommended!
