What did you rate Fantasia and why?

I gave it a 7/10 (really good). It could have been an 8, 9, or 10 but my main issue with the film is that the stories told in the animation were pretty childish. The animation is amazing, the concept of the film is exceptional, but instead of telling allegorical tales through the animation, they just came across as childish cartoons. Still visually amazing, but no substance.

Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime.

I rated it a solid 10! It's the absolute best animated film I've ever seen and it continues to get better with time. The animation is top notch as is the music, and the emotional simplicity and mood is very effective.

The animation is certainly gorgeous

10

It's less a movie or an animated film as it is living art.

I rate Fantasia as an "8", given some of the weaker points in this film. The weaker parts of this film, such as the Pastoral symphony dances, and some parts of the beginning, keep me from giving Fantasia a "10" rating.

It gets a 10 in my book. I don't understand why people complain about there not being a narrative focus on this film when it clearly was not the point. They never even advertised it as such.

This is a masterpiece of a film that achieved what it set out to do while breaking new ground. It was unheard of at the time and the animation is astounding. To think they used purely traditional techniques to pull this off boggles my mind. It does not look like a film made in the 40s, not in the slightest. Pretty much every piece of music was done justice on the visual front, and the combination of music and visual imagery was quite a sensory experience. This is still an underrated film.

^ That's my rating, and justification as well; couldn't state it better. ;)

I gave it a 7. It's beautifully animated--the Night on Bald Mountain sequence is gorgeous and breath taking, but it's definitely a movie I have to be in the mood for.

Let's be bad guys.

The Night on Bald Mountain segment is my favorite part of this whole movie.
