Cool, I didn't know you watched Svengoolie! I watch the program quite often, enjoying its mixture of schlock offerings and cinema classics.
Here's one of my impressions of it.
There was a conversational exchange between Dr. Thorkel (Dr. Cyclops, the antagonist) and professor Kendall that caught my attention. Kendall referred to Thorkel as Cyclops; not because of Thorkel's eyewear, but because of Thorkel's use of intellect.
Kendall was pointing out that it is not proper to think of the mind as being superior to the body (Thorkel's motivation for his experiments). The mind and body are to work together. Kendall even goes as far to say that what's going on is not science.
There is a mistake to only think of one's body as a utility to serve a purpose. This it certainly does do but this dualism kind of thinking treats the body as a weakness and the wonders of the mind infinitely superior. Such an attitude completely ignores that a living, breathing human being needs both of them to survive. They are united when it comes to interacting with the world around us.
Because of the way Dr. Thorkel thought, he underestimated his shrunken associates when he held them captive against their will, leading to the outcome at the end of the film.
