Fashion prices adjusted for inflation = YOWZA

I'm watching The Women on TCM right now and after the fashion show both Crystal Allen (Joan Crawford) and Mary haines (Norma Shearer) want a nightgown that cost $225.00 in 1939. Adjusted for inflation, today that "nightgown" would cost $3,279! These women really had the money and to think that Crystal wanted a few of them, not just one LOL!!!!

Here's the calculation that I used:

Thanks...I've often wondered what that nightgown would cost at today's
prices; although $225.00 for a nightgown/peignoir/negligee is awfully expensive for me in any era!
