Rock on! I can't stop watching it either. Usually I try to focus on one actress's performance at a time - it was a hoot of a movie.

When I was watching it yesterday, the scene at "Black's Fifth Avenue" which I presume is supposed to be Saks Fifth Avenue was a howl. The whole "Mrs. Prowler" simpered by Joan Crawford was right on target. That whole scene was amazing - between the 2 "friends" spying on Stephen's mistress to the interplay between Crawford and her fellow perfume counter employees - and brilliantly done.

Do you not just love when Crawford is on the phone manipulating Stephen into not breaking their date? First the purported home-cooked meal, then the not so subtle reference to a bogus birthday, then the neuralgia comment and "gloomy letter from home" - totally fun! And when she's mouthing off to the other salesgirl who's making the snide comments, it is amazing.

Every time I watch it I marvel at how Cukor pulled it all together. I can only imagine the estrogen ego's on that set - particularly in light of what I've read about Norma Shearer.

And Paulette Goddard's line - "Where I spit, no grass grows, EVER" is perfect.

Yes I LOVE this movie more every time I watch it, must be that snappy dialogue, and so many good actresses. When Joan purposely calls Sylvia "Mrs. Prowler" instead of Fowler I bust out laughing every time!

You can't stop watching it, simply because it is so damn good. I think I discovered it, late night on WCBS New York when I was 25 in 1979, and have not watched it less than 50 times since, as well as turning other friends and relatives on to it.

I still have the initial and official VHS issue from 1985, not less than a half dozen off-air recordings of it, and the DVD as well. In turn, this has fostered book buys on Shearer, Crawford and Russell whenever and wherever I can find them.

This movie makes converts, and keep us converted!
