What town in Kansas does the film take place? Did L. Frank Baum specify in the book, or has any town in Kansas claimed to be “Dorothy’s hometown?”

Return To Oz says they live north of Pittsburg, Kansas in the far southeast corner of the state. Which is a five minute drive from the Missouri border and not far from Oklahoma either.
