Woody Strode
I just noticed Woody Strode in an uncredited appearance in this film: in the saloon in Lordsburg just after the stagecoach arrives.

shareUnfortunately, that's NOT Woody Strode. He's erroneously credited as being in the film as the man in the close-up. That's NOT to say he wasn't IN the movie. He might very well HAVE been, but the actor that was in the close-up at 1:20:38, is quite obviously not him.
The actor in that close-up bears a SLIGHT resemblance to Strode, but it most definitely isn't him. For one thing, the actor is a fair amount older than Strode would have been at the time (23), and the shape of the mouth and the nose is quite obviously different from Strode's.
I don't act...I react. John Wayne
Watching that scene now and thinking..."Naw, that is NOT Woody who says "Se Senior." after Luke asks him to get his brothers.
shareYep...
That is someone else ENTIRELY!!!

Strode was most likely still a student at UCLA when this film was made. Which is not to say he couldn't have been used as an extra, the same way Ward Bond & Wayne were when they were in USC, but that AIN'T Woody.
May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?
