Ygor's instrument...

Does anyone know what kind of instrument Ygor plays in the movie? It has a cool creepy sound to it.

The intrument in the film looks like a blowhorn or foghorn of some type. What you hear and what the score uses, however, is an English Horn.

The SilentPhotoplayer says it looks like blowhorn or foghorn but those aren't musical instruments. He may very well be correct that the instrument we hear is an English Horn. This maybe a little confusing as an English Horn is not a true horn at all but is a member of the Woodwind family and looks like an Oboe with the bulbous bell and is a double reed instrument as are the Oboe and Bassoon.

IzzyVanHalen says It's a blute. I've never heard of a Blute nor could I find any information about any musical instrument called a blute. Maybe someone that does could elaborate.

I think it looks like a Shawm. The shawm was a medieval and Renaissance musical instrument of the woodwind family made in Europe from the 12th century until the 17th century. The Shawm uses a double reed, made from the same cane used for oboes and bassoons, was inserted directly into a socket at the top of the instrument. It somewhat resembles a recorder or clarinet with a conical bell at the bottom.
