I don't know French and I need to read the English subtitles while watching the Movie. My mother tongue is also not English , so maybe I cannot understand this movie 100%.

May I ask one question? Is this movie talking about gay love ? What is the main theme of this movie ?

No, it's not about "gay love." It's about class differences in French society prior to World War II.
