On TCM next week/Brothers Grimm influence?

This movie will be playing on TCM next Sunday Morning (5 AM Central). I usually look ahead a week to see what's playing on TCM, and saw the plot of this movie....It's kind of a weird one, where Lionel Barrymore's character traps Death in an apple tree, and no one can die. Weirdly and coincidentally, I've been rereading all of Grimm's fairy tales, and there's one called "Gambling Hans." In the story, through some strange bargain with God, he outwits God and Death, and Death ends up stuck in a tree for seven years, so nobody is able to die for that whole time. I don't think the movie is based on the story in any way though.....Anyway, I'll have to watch this movie, if only due to the weird synchronicity of reading that story and seeing the film's similar description.
