Great movie, but...

...it's very hard to watch. Atleast the last half hour. It makes me sick to think of how corrupt the government was in the past (and how corrupt it may still be).

Watching one man have control of every form of press, and watching people who march to support Smith get run into by trucks and washed out with fire hoses. Citizens, even members and departments of the government...abusing people who are out to speak their mind! It was so hard to watch and think of our country performing the same acts that we criticize other countries like Iraq and China for: not only not allowing someone to speak their mind...but abusing them for their opinion!

It was a fabulous movie. Great acting by everyone. Fabulously written. My immediate assumption while watching this was that it was greatly criticized when it was first released, and I was right. But like so many other books, songs, and movies, it helped bring so many TRUTHS to the people's eyes. But it's still so sad and depressing to imagine it.

You're right. The sordidness is very depressing.

Although this film addresses corruption on a grand scale, there are lies, deceit, fear, selfishness, greed and cowardice everywhere.

I've always hated politics in the workplace for that very reason and was forced to become self employed, as I couldn't and never will be able to cope with dishonesty. My honesty has been both my best attribute and my biggest fault because it has always got me into trouble.

I'm no Smith, but I know I'm closer to him than a lot of people who follow the crowd like spineless sheep, afraid to rock the boat.
