Did anyone else love the president?

I loved the president of the senate. I kept cracking up at how he would smile at Smith or start to laugh and cover his face. I don't know why but I just loved him.

Yes!

His facial expressions were great, despite his Hitler hairstyle!

Harry Carey's character played a crucial role in the film in that he enabled Jefferson Smith to continue. He played the role brilliantly. He didn't say much, but his facial expressions won us over. That's acting!

The wonderful Harry Carey was nominated for an Oscar in the supporting category for his role, as was Claude Rains (Senator Paine). The Oscar went to their co-star Thomas Mitchell (Diz), but for his role as Doc in "Stagecoach". What a wonderful collection of talent!

Yes, I loved him, too. My impression, however, was that Harry Carey was doing things ad libitum.
