John Russell, and the remake and Clarence Crews

John Russell of Lawman fame is still listed in the credits as one of the Hopper boys. He is confused with Johnny Russell.

When Tom Laughlin was making Billy Jack Goes to Washington, he wanted Stewart to reprise Sen. Smith as having himself compromised himself into corruption. Stewart hated the idea and refused to play Smith in the remake. I think Stewart missed the irony.

A friend of mine projectionist Clarence Crews told he ran the daily rushes for Laughlin and said the experience taught him how not to make a movie. Clarence had a long distinguished career in DC's projection booth. He once invited me to watch Pink Flamingos. I got up and left after 10 minutes.
