i guess i can understand making jesses' mother so whiny to bring some sympathy when she is killed.
But the real mrs. samuels would have been after the rail road men with a hatchet.
She had her arm blown off to the elbow I think if not shoulder and Jess and Franks younger half brother was killed. There was no turning back after the attack on their family.
