Back Street ripoff?
Does anybody else find that the plot of In Name Only is awfully close to that of Fannie Hurst's twice filmed Back Street?
shareI don't think its a rip off of Back Street. Alec always wanted to divorce Maida. Once Julie knew Alec was married she did not see him until he had gotten Maida to agree (She lied) to divorce him. They did not sneak around so they would not be seen in public.
In Backstreet, the guy stays married and the woman is tucked away accepting the lifestyle and knowledge that they will never marry. She was always hidden.
