Amazed at the action

I can't claim to have seen all the movies made from the 20's-60's, but I was really impressed with the sets, action sequences and special effects in this movie considering it was made in 1939.

Now the fact that they used a Jewish actor to play an Indian is a different issue.

Great action in movies of the 1920s through 1960s is not at all unusual.

Jaffe was brilliant casting as Gunga Din. It's acting--pretending to be what you are not.
