LESLIE HOWARD? UGH.


He was the worst part of this movie.....I read years ago that Randolph Scott was considered for this role.....a sure as heck much better choice, but nothing happened with it.

Howard is so WOODEN.....you could have used a life size cutout or mannequin for all the 'acting' he did......and it was rumored that he hated the book besides.....oh well!!!!

That's why they hired him, so Rhett could chide Scarlett's pining for "the wooden Mr. Wilkes"...

I didn't see Howard as a problem. The movie was so strong that a minor miscast wasn't an issue. Besides, he was supposed to be wishy-washy compared to the dynamic Rhett making every woman (and most men) wonder what the hell Scarlett saw in him.
