Will be on Svengoolie on 12/24/2016
The Cat and the Canary (1939) will be shown on Svengoolie on MeTV on Saturday night, 24 December 2016, at 9PM central time.
This is one of my favorite haunted house comedy movies. Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard made another one in 1940 titled The Ghost Breakers, and it's a really funnny movie also.
There is a lawyer character named Crosby in The Cat and the Canary. Some people mistakenly think that's an inside joke referring to Bing Crosby. Actually, it's just a coincidence. The character was also named Crosby in the stage version before the movie was created, and Bob Hope and Bing Crosby didn't make their first Road picture together until the following year, 1940. That was The Road to Singapore.
This is a great movie to show on Christmas Eve. A real funny haunted house film to get us all in a good mood for Christmas Day.
