In ActII, Penny mentions waiting for an orchid. Does anyone know the reference behind it?

OMG we did this show and NO ONE got this joke!! Our director got it, but couldn't explain.

"I just killed my best friend!"
"And your worst enemy!"
"Same difference!"

"orchid"=(word that starts with the same two letters that's dirty).

Actually, I believe it is refering to Paul, she was waiting for "them" to bloom, in reference to the long engagement, the joke is dated.

hahha im doing the show right now(last performance tommorow), and NO ONE in the cast got it. we all made up our own little meanings, and just dismissed the line. however, on opening night we all just sort of looked at penny andpaul when she said it and the audience got a kick out of it.

Yeah I really want to know what that means. Were putting on this play in about a week and no one in the cast or crew understands that joke.
