What's this mean, 'That's outlawed, ain't it?'


When the man from the IRS comes and sees Martin Vanderhof, he tells him he owes back income for 22 years, Ed replied, "You're going too far back, that's outlawed, ain't it?" What did he mean by that?

Ed was probably referring to some sort of statute of limitations on how far back the government could claim taxes owed.
