Was this supposed to be in New York or Alabama?

I'm confused, Wall Street is in New York isn't it? But Ed was a player for the Alabama football team, and the Vanderhofs and Sycamores never moved out of their home in New York.

While this is true you will recall Ed said that the WHOLE Alabama football team would've stayed with the Vanderhofs if they had had 10 more Essies, so does that mean the whole Alabama football team moved to New York?

They could've been traveling to a game, I suppose. And Grandpa invited them all to dinner on one of his "walks in the park" as Rheba says, and then Essie fell for him. Just a possible scenario, but I don't find it that hard to believe.
