One of The Essentials

It blew my mind when I heard that this movie had become one of Turner Classic Movies' Essentials...but one thing we can all probably agree on is it's about damn time...how does this movie get passed up for all these years to be one and THEN out of the blue is picked for it?

I can't wait to see what they have to say about this movie tonight because it's not too often that you hear anybody talking about it, in so it's a great movie but not terribly popular. But maybe after this it'll pick up a little popularity. What's everybody else think?

Enjoying this movie as I write. Skipped a party this evening just to stay home and watch YCTIWY - so glad I did. I was thinking, a few of these actors would be over 120 yrs old . . . if they were alive today! And, I can't believe Jean Arthur was eight years older than James Stewart!!

I used to think this movie was just good. Now I think it's a masterpiece! Probably my favourite Capra flick.

I too rewatched it a few weeks ago after about a year, and liked it even better. Caught my favorite scenes tonight.

I actually cry several times while watching this film, because I can't believe what a masterpiece I'm witnessing. For my money, it's the best American comedy ever produced. I've probably seen it at least 20 times. It's one of the few films that I rate a ' 10 ' out of 10. For some years now I've been questioning the existence of God. However, I have little doubt that he was around in 1938. I envision him reaching down, touching the shoulders of all involved with the making of this wonderful film and giving them the inspiration to do it. It's simply flawless!

I'm not at the point where I can call it great. It's overlong and is heavy on the moralizing. Having said that, the cast is fantastic and the scenes that are full of people milling around are so full of life that it's hard to resist.

Ditto.
