This was fantastic. And my first Michael Redgrave to boot.
I'd had this film in my hard drive for so long but my copy had a horribly garbled audio so I had to get subtitles, and somewhere along the way, I just overlooked watching it. That was a mistake. It's really a wonderful movie! I'd recently watched Lifeboat which I loved and so I wanted to go on another Hitchcock binge.
I thought the movie was a bit slow at the beginning, mostly because the startit was a bit confusing. There were so many characters and I couldn't discern which of them would be headlining the film. It definitely picked up though. It was so wonderfully intriguing. I kept going, what the?? It was interesting though, I actually didn't think the whole plot was going to go on the largely conspiratorial route it ended up taking, but I guess it wasn't too big a leap.
And Michael Redgrave. What endearing charm he pulled off. He was definitely a stand-out in this movie. I will have to look into more of his films for sure. If anyone has any recommendations, I would be happy to take them! I've already got The Importance of Being Earnest and The Stars Look Down on queue. The Innocents is also on my watchlist, but I'll be giving that a go more for the story and Kerr than Redgrave's bit role really.
