Thank you. Shirley lived a long, happy !ife. I wonder how old the actor that played Jimmy was when he died? I will research it eventually. I would like to see more of Shirley films when possible.

Good grief, the real life child bride must have had a kid at 11 or 12. Some young people then and now , hit puberty early. Sadly there will always be predators out there (male and female). I wonder how long both young performers continued to act?

Was the author implying the reformers of the day were puritanical regarding abolishing child marriages? If so, I am on the reformers side. Sadly the practice still goes on in many parts of the world today, and reformers still face an uphill battle with rural traditions . I read about a few cases in Africa and India a few years ago. I think in a few Middle Eastern countries as well.
