Lost Horizon = Lost TV Show on ABC!!!
It didn't hit me until we saw Jack's frantic desire to return to the island. Gosh it all seems to clear now!!!

I was thinking the same thing as i was watching this movie.
... I open my mind to fit the art,not chop down the art to fit my mind.
Except the character Bob Conway is more similar to Locke when he's at Shangri-la, how he's the faithful one, the one they've been waiting for...
When Jack is on the island, he is more similar to Bob's brother, how he's skeptical of everything and wanting to leave. But I agree, Future Jack (off the island) seems to be similar to Bob in wanting to return to the island and regretting leaving.
Lets see... Chang is similar to Ben.
The high lama seems kinda similar to what Jacob could be or maybe Richard Alpert.
Henry Barnard is similar to Sawyer.
And Lovey is.... Charlie?
I wonder if everyone ages slower on the island then.
Well, anyways, I hope there's more to Lost that this because there's still like 3 seasons left.
Richard Alpert appears to be not age. But I agree 'the others' remind me of the Shangri-la. But I definetly believe there's more to lost, but I think lost horizon may have influenced it. I don't think Henry barnard is much like Sawyer in personality, just the outlaw thing (which he has in common with Kate as well). Lovett reminds me of the guy that got blown up in the end of season 1.
shareIve never seen the movie, but currently reading the novel that it was based on, and a huge fan of LOST the tv series, I can definitely see a LOT of parallels, revives my theory for lost that the island is shangri la/eden/paradise etc
and based on the ending of season 4 (won't spoil) you can see how the island could also have been located in the tibetan mountains at one time.
his name was leslie arzt :)
bout to watch this... and being a (obviously?) big lost fan, i may respond...
That's what I thought when I saw it! I watched it with my mom the other night, and I mentioned it reminded me of Lost. Then when it came out that Barnard was a fugitive I was like "He's Kate!" which made my mom laugh.
"He's already attracted to her. Time and monotony will do the rest."
Very similar concepts - probably the biggest influence for LOST.
Starting, obviously, with the title LOST Horizon,
then the plane going in the wrong direction,
then crashing the plane, and coming across a group of people unconnected with the outside world..... LOST could almost be considered a TV series remake of Lost Horizon.
