Will There be a Blu-Ray Release?

Does anyone know if there are any murmerings about a possible Blu-Ray release of this film? Is it because they're holding out in case some lost footage gets found, or is it maybe because what's left is not very good quality? I'd love to see a restored & remastered version with all the trimmings in high definition.

Who wouldn't love a Blu-Ray release of this great movie? However, I doubt that will ever happen, barring someone finds a lost copy of the whole movie in mint condition in a vault somewhere. As it is, some scenes are spliced in 16 mm of abominable quality.

Still, hope never dies.

The same is true of the movie "Metropolis", yet it has had many releases on Blu-Ray.

Unfortunately, Columbia probably doesn't see the demand for it. I'd love to find it someday in a Frank Capra Bluray box set.

was in Barnes And Noble today and while not Blu-Ray, they have a fancy new "book bound" DVD edition, 2015 release, looks simmilar to a Ceiterion release, booklet and all, but isn't from Criterion

boasts on the back oannel that it is nearly long as the original having been recut using footage found in 2014!

There's a new Blu-ray release of the 4K restoration that came out just this week here in Australia.

Surely there'll be a release in the US and/or UK soon?

(P.S. It's really very good, and easily a step up from previous DVDs, but you have to remember they didn't have a perfect copy to base the restoration on.)

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
