Hypocrisies

Father Perrault talks about Shangri La being founded on a Christian ethic. Surely it is not Christian to take a man's wife or to kill the original pilot, or to kidnap people.

reply

As for the pilot, he died of a heart attack upon impact.

Scatter Heart
I dare you: Put the subtitles ON!

In the novel, Conway was not kidnapped for the purpose of bringing him and/or the others to Shangri La. The pilot was trying desperately to return to Shangri La, much like Conway would do at the end of the novel...

reply

I thought Jane Wyatt's character suggested that Conway be brought in to replace the dying Lama? She had read Conway's books.

reply

The OP means the ORIGINAL pilot. The one that the chinese pilot killed at BAskul before they took off.

reply

ALL religions kill when it is expedient. The Bible is FULL of murder & other acts of violence.

The Christian ethic of self sacrifice. To live for your own sake is evil. To live for the sake of others is virtuous.

" Made It Ma... Top - O' - The - World! "

reply

The original pilot is not in the plane when it crashes. It is assumed he was knocked out and pushed out before take-off. Not killed
