The part that Charlie sings in french, was that his real voice?

And what were the words (in english) to the lyrics?

he sings with a french accent but the words aren't french

It's Charlie's real voice, but it's not a language. It's just gibberish that he made up. That's the best part about it.

I could swear I've heard a song with the same melody as the song Charlie was singing in "French".

Does anyone else remember hearing a song with a similar melody?

The original song is called "Je cherche après Titine", 1917, by Léo Daniderff.
