In the 1930s and even later there were magazine and comic book advertisements claiming to be able to teach anyone to play the piano.
The ads showed a picture of a person seated at a piano - surrounded by a group of admirers, I believe - with a balloon quote from the player saying, "They all laughed when I sat down at the piano!".
The clever writers of Libeled just changed that last word of the quote, and knew that the audience would get the joke. And, Myrna said it while making pancakes.
I knew she was delivering a comedy line but now I can appreciate it. Thanks!
