Story
I don't know about you people, but the actual storyline to this movie was good. I didn't, however, enjoy the play numbers they threw in, it isn't the same as actually going to see a play... do you agree?

The fantasia costumes were unbelievable and worth seeing over. Fanny Brice and other Ziegfeld discoveries ought to have had more play. It would have been even more marvelous if Fanny had done a whole song or some whole segment of her vaudevile act instead of what is almost a cameo. Yes, the story is endlessly fascinating and of course it's his relationship with the ladies thats most fascinating. If tFrizell's

point his ladies liked being treated as playthings and property. Peraps it was the play in playthings??
I'm still trying to figure out how Luise Rainer won for LEADING actress?!? She was barely in the thing - although that phone scene is a classic.
