Anyone notice how in the Hawkmen's furnace room someone is always manning "the big wheel"? Straight out of Fritz Lang's Metropolis! It's in several shots in episode 7. A nice touch, that.

shareEver notice about the extremely large idol in the beginning credits? This is the one, about 30 feet tall, moves it's arms as the worshipers are dancing around it as well as in the idol's hands. That idol never makes an appearance in the Flash Gordon storyline itself, the screen action. It does have a good part, though, in the 1930 science fiction film "Just Imagine". Flash's spaceship is also in that one, too!
