Jean Rogers was totally adorable as Dale Arden in this serial. Watching the jealousy between Dale Arden and that of Princess Aura is very special.

In an interview in the late 1970s, Jean Rodgers stated that the Hayes Code probably didn't pay much attention to serials than to full-length features, otherwise she thought, they would have never of let her wear those outfits where she showed a lot of skin!

She was magnificent at fainting that's for sure she was fainting all over the place in that movie. Princess Aura had guts. I hated that she wasn't in the last of the Flash Gordon movies.

It's remarkable how appealing she is half naked from the waist up. Meanwhile all these portly males are running around wearing man-diapers & showing their flab, the dichotomy is absolutely bizarre.

Typical male fantasy, having two georgous women fighting over him. I used to watch this when I was a kid and have been a sci-fi fan ever since. I'm so glad women (and men)in sci-fi have evolved to be more complicated. Dale was there to be rescued while Aura was there to cause trouble. The doc was there to be the genious, Ming the evil dictator bent on destruction, and of course Flash to be the hero. Simpler times, huh?

Just look at the first STAR WARS. You have a female lead who can take care of herself as well as critique the "heroes" once they show up to "rescue" her and are less than competent at it.
